Shopping at Walmart can be a very different experience depending on the time of day or the day of the week you go. There are times when the aisles are crowded, the lines are endless, and products are scarce. But there are also much quieter time slots that let you shop without rushing and find better deals.
On platforms like Quora, dozens of employees and regular shoppers have revealed their tricks to get the most out of their visits. Meanwhile, among all the comments, there's a pattern that keeps repeating and has now gone viral. Many agree that there's a perfect day to shop at Walmart and avoid the usual stress.

The best day to shop at Walmart without stress
According to these users, Sunday is the best day of the week to visit Walmart, no matter the store's location. At the end of the week, there's a greater variety of fresh products, cleaning items, deli products, and more options in general. However, as you might expect, there are periods on Sunday when the store can get crowded, so it's important to choose the right time.
Experts on Quora recommend going very early, as soon as the store opens, or waiting until the last hours of the evening. Armando Dy, a former Walmart employee, explained that "it depends on whether you like to shop when there are a lot of people or almost empty, go early, as soon as they open, so there are fewer people." So, if you prefer a calm environment, avoid the middle hours of the day.

Virender Singh, another regular user, agrees with this recommendation and adds a key detail. "In many cases, the early evening hours on a Sunday (between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.[17:00 and 19:00]) are usually less crowded than in the afternoon," he made clear. He also says that an hour before closing there are usually even fewer people, which lets you shop without rushing or lines.
The best times to find deals and discounted products
Besides the level of crowds, there are customers who prefer certain times of day because of the deals that appear. According to Armando Dy, the bakery usually discounts the previous day's bread around 10:00 a.m. while the butcher's section starts lowering prices on products near 1:00 p.m.[13:00], just as they're approaching their expiration date.
Clayton Rowe, a current Walmart employee, also shared very useful tips. If you need daily essentials like non-perishable foods, cleaning products, or toilet paper, it's best to go first thing in the morning. However, if you're looking for something that requires assistance, like video games or board games, it's better to go in the afternoon, since there are more staff available to help customers.
According to Rowe, Sunday is not only useful for avoiding crowds, but also for getting discounts on perishable products. "Products like sandwiches, takeout pizzas, and items with a very short shelf life are discounted that day, because many expire on Monday or Tuesday. They want to move them before their best-by date expires," the worker explained.
Finally, there's another element that can help you plan: local events. Singh also pointed out that if there are celebrations, fairs, or activities in your area that attract the public, stores could be empty during those hours. So checking the weekend schedule can make a difference in your shopping experience.
