Conor Gallagher landed at Barajas airport yesterday at around 9.30pm. The Englishman, excited about his move to Atlético de Madrid, arrived in the Spanish capital eager to train with his new teammates. Spotted as soon as he got off the plane on his arrival in Madrid, Gallagher was asked first-hand about the new challenge he faces.
Asked about this, Gallagher was smiling and looking forward to starting off, as he will presumably do today in Majadahonda . The Englishman also dedicated a few words to his new coach, Diego Pablo Simeone , when asked by the fans. Awaiting the chance to start working side by side with him at Cerro del Espino , this was what Gallagher thought of Simeone .
Gallagher's words on his new stage with Simeone
After stopping to sign a series of autographs with the fans present at Barajas , Gallagher was asked about Simeone . The Englishman said he was " eager to train under him", something he will presumably do this morning. The former Chelsea player knows his potential and what he can bring to an Atlético team in need of reinforcements in midfield.
The departure of regular midfielders like Saúl Ñíguez has been a huge blow for Simeone . The arrival of players like Gallagher is a breath of fresh air and a change of image for the usual midfield. His youth, energy and ability to be omnipresent make him a player who can cover a lot of ground.
Gallagher, the all-rounder
Although he is used to playing close to the penalty area at Chelsea , the Briton adapts to any position in the centre of the field. Gallagher has the ability to arrive, as well as energy and a nose for goal and precision when it comes to timing his tackles. With exceptional qualities, Gallagher is a complete midfielder who is set to be very important this season at Atlético de Madrid .
Symbiosis between club and player
The transfer is beneficial both for Atlético de Madrid , who were desperate to bring him in, and for Conor Gallagher himself. The Englishman had been "expelled" from Chelsea and was crazy to wear the red and white shirt this transfer market, and so it has been. Eager to make his debut with the Atlético de Madrid jersey this Sunday, Gallagher will have his first contact with the fans this evening at the Metropolitano.
