Everyone knows José Luis Martínez-Almeida's great passion, the mayor of Spain's capital, for Atlético de Madrid, the club of his life. There have been many occasions when he has publicly expressed his preference for the "colchonero" team and his close bond with Simeone. Therefore, his latest statements on the Espejo Público program about his future fatherhood and the relationship with soccer have surprised no one.
Obviously, one of the major concerns for parents is that all their children become fans of the same team as them, something difficult. However, it seems that the politician from the Partido Popular is very clear about the path once his firstborn is born in the coming months. Martínez-Almeida recently got married, and in the morning coat he wore during the ceremony, there was a nod to the "rojiblanco" team that stirred up social media.
Martínez-Almeida's Atlético Message
Usually, one of the gossip topics that most interests society is knowing which club each of the country's public figures supports. In this case, there are very few doubts with José Luis Martínez-Almeida, as he has never had problems expressing his affinity with Atlético de Madrid. He revealed that he has been a season ticket holder all his life and has never had issues being photographed wearing the colchonero colors at important moments.

This very morning, he was interviewed on the Espejo Público program and left a very clear message about his future child and the relationship with soccer. "I've already said that if he's not an Atleti fan, he's not mine, so there's no discussion, I might regret it, but if he's not an Atleti fan, something went wrong," he said. "There's no discussion about this, the colors are red and white," he stated about the team his future child should support.
Atlético de Madrid Is Unquestionable
"Let me put it another way, I'm willing to compromise on everything except soccer, I'm willing to compromise on anything, but not this," he concluded. With all this, it seems very clear that Martínez-Almeida has no intention of allowing his child to support another team, pointing to joining the colchonero family. Evidently, the entire interview was conducted in an informal tone and with laughter to take the seriousness out of everything he was explaining on the television set.
Surely the mayor of Madrid is eager for the team to continue in this good dynamic to celebrate a title again and join the squad. He has done so on numerous occasions as a fan and also had the opportunity to do so as a representative of Spain's capital. For now, he will be pleased with the good performance the entire squad is delivering, staying in the fight for all the trophies.
