Simeone calm

Simeone and Gil Marín make a decision on the transfer market: confirmed

From the red-and-white club, a decision has already been made regarding the transfer market.

The winter transfer market closes today and Atlético de Madrid doesn't seem to be involved in any movement. It has been reported for a month that Simeone wanted a player who could have an immediate impact on the team. However, it seems that the sports management hasn't found anyone suitable for what was being sought.

Atlético has decided not to make moves in the winter transfer market unless a "major surprise" occurs. Club sources have confirmed to Mundo Deportivo that no additions or departures are expected in the first team during this transfer window.

Players who come to contribute

Since the start of the market, Simeone and the CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, have maintained a clear stance: only consider exceptional offers for their most important players. Although some agents have sought new destinations for their less prominent clients, Atlético de Madrid has made it clear that only a "stratospheric" proposal would trigger a departure.

The club is immersed in the fight for LaLiga, has reached the round of 16 of the Champions League, and is in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey. With these prospects, the management believes that any departure could weaken the team at a crucial moment of the season. Although there were attempts for players like Rodrigo De Paul and Alexander Sorloth, Atlético rejected the proposals, reaffirming its ambition to compete for all titles at stake.

Departures became entrenched

Regarding possible additions, the club explored the market in search of opportunities that fit both sportingly and economically. However, no options were found that met the established criteria. Moreover, Simeone fully trusts the current squad and values the recovery of players like Thomas Lemar, who, although not a first option, adds depth to the midfield. On the left side, the coach has alternatives like César Azpilicueta, Samuel Lino, or Rodrigo Riquelme to complement Javi Galán.

Atlético de Madrid's sports planning is now focused on the next summer window, where significant adjustments to the squad are expected. Players like Axel Witsel, Juan Musso, Koke Resurrección, Clément Lenglet, Reinildo Mandava, and César Azpilicueta are out of contract, which could open up space for new additions.
