Ford, one of the most iconic brands in the United States, is going through a complicated time. The American giant has announced a massive vehicle recall due to serious safety issues in several of its most popular models. This measure affects more than 200,000 units, which have failures in the brake system and rear cameras, two essential elements for the safety of the driver and passengers.
This massive recall isn't the first for Ford, which has already faced several recalls in recent years. However, the magnitude of the current problems has put the brand in the eye of the storm. Consumers now have to face the effects of these failures, which could put the safety of the affected vehicles at risk.

Problems in the rear cameras: a failure that can't be overlooked
One of the main problems detected in Ford vehicles is related to the rear cameras. According to the NHTSA, the failure affects models manufactured in 2015 (2015) that don't meet the requirements established by FMVSS 111 law, which requires functional rearview cameras.
These models not only display distorted or white images, but the camera might not even turn on at all. This situation puts visibility at risk and, therefore, the safety of the driver when parking or reversing.
The models affected by this failure are the following:
- Ford F-250, F-350, F-450 (2015)
- Ford Expedition (2015)
- Lincoln Navigator (2015)
- Lincoln MKC (2015)
In total, around 160,700 vehicles could be involved in this problem.

Brake fluid leaks: a greater risk for drivers
The other critical problem that Ford is facing is brake fluid leaks in the front system. This failure can seriously affect the vehicle's braking ability, which increases the risk of serious accidents. The vehicles affected by this problem are models manufactured between 2017 and 2018 (2017-2018), including:
- Ford Expedition (2017-2018)
- Lincoln Navigator (2017-2018)
- Ford F-150 (2017-2018, manufactured outside Kentucky)
It's estimated that this problem affects more than 123,000 vehicles. Fortunately, Ford has already started taking corrective measures, replacing the master brake cylinders since April 22.
What is Ford doing to solve the problem?
Ford has shown a proactive approach in solving these problems. For the rear camera failure, the company has started replacing the cameras at no cost since May 5.
Regarding the brake fluid leaks, they're replacing the master brake cylinders since April 22. Despite the magnitude of the situation, Ford is acting quickly and responsibly to solve these safety problems.

What should owners of the affected vehicles do?
If you have one of the affected models, the first thing you should do is check if your vehicle is included in the recall. You can easily do this through the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the NHTSA website or by calling the Ford or NHTSA hotlines.
It's crucial that you don't delay the inspection of your vehicle too much if you detect any of these failures, since your vehicle's safety could be seriously compromised. Ford is committed to the safety of its customers and, although the situation isn't ideal, the brand continues to take measures to restore consumer trust.
