Fernando Torres explains Salim's departure to Cartagena: 'We have...'

The child comments on the departure of the Madrid footballer on loan to the Cartagena team until the end of the season.

Fernando Torres enjoyed Atlético's victory against Alcorcón in a very difficult match for the "colchoneros," who struggled a lot to secure the three points at home. "El Niño" and his team had gone four consecutive matches without a win, with two losses and two draws in between, a bad streak that finally ended. Fernando spoke to the press about various aspects related to the match and some of his players.

Regarding one of them, the Fuenlabrada native gave his opinion about Salim el Jebari, who has moved to Cartagena. He has gone on loan until the end of the season. The Moroccan forward wasn't getting playing time and decided to seek an opportunity elsewhere, which he found in the Second Division. The coach referred to the departure of the African player, whom he has known since he returned to the club as a coach.

That he can have that opportunity

"That he can have that opportunity where he feels he is ready, despite it being a complicated situation, he is a very capable player. We saw him for a little while yesterday; we are always keeping an eye on our players. We hope he can return with the best feelings from this loan and prove that he is a player worthy of professional football," he concluded.

Salim el Jebari leaves on loan without a purchase option and will have to return to the "colchonero" club with which he has a contract until June 30, 2026. The Moroccan forward debuted in Atlético de Madrid's first team under Diego Pablo Simeone, although it was in a 2-0 defeat against Cádiz. He didn't get more minutes with Simeone despite being in several first-team call-ups. At 20 years old, the Madrid native hopes to get playing time in Cartagena.

One goal and one assist in 151 minutes

This season he has only played 6 matches with the reserve team, in which he has provided one assist and scored one goal. It was against Real Murcia and Betis Deportivo, respectively, but it hasn't been enough to earn the trust of Fernando Torres, who knows him very well.

With his new team, he has already played 44 minutes in the 4-0 defeat at El Alcoraz against Sociedad Deportiva Huesca. The "cartageneros" are at the bottom of the standings and hope that the arrival of the forward on loan from Atlético will help them climb out of the bottom.
