One of the goals that seemed impossible to achieve last summer was João Félix's permanent departure from Atlético de Madrid. The Portuguese player had experienced a year and a half of loans in which he wasn't able to show his best level, having to return to the Metropolitano. In fact, he had to join the last preseason, getting some minutes in friendlies and showing a good attitude.
Finally, he would be signed by Chelsea in a double operation that would also see Conor Gallagher transferred to the colchonero team. It was a surprising move, as João Félix had already spent six months at Stamford Bridge and wasn't able to convince the club to keep him. Now, after completing the first half of the season, the London team would be looking for a way out for him.
João Félix continues in free fall
Although it may seem surprising, years ago there was a small war at Atlético de Madrid between supporters of Simeone and supporters of João Félix. At that time, many thought that the Argentine coach wasn't able to adapt the player to the team. Many even labeled him as defensive, asking for a play style more focused on enhancing the qualities of the Portuguese international.
However, time hasn't taken long to prove Cholo right, as João Félix has failed with all the coaches he has had in recent times. He wasn't able to give his best version at Chelsea or FC Barcelona, returning to the colchonero team on both occasions. He hasn't fared better in his new adventure with the team led by Enzo Maresca, having little prominence and needing to seek another destination.
England or Italy
In this winter market, two possible clubs have been mentioned to take João Félix, at least until next summer when he has to return to Chelsea. One was AC Milan, where they are looking to make a radical change to the team to improve performance in Serie A and compete for the Champions League. However, the Portuguese would also have the option to stay in the Premier League, as Unai Emery would launch another offensive to sign him.
Aston Villa had already been mentioned in the past as one of the teams wanting to take the player from Atlético de Madrid when he wasn't in Simeone's plans. It is a team that will advance to the next round of the Champions League, although it needs to take a step forward to climb positions in England. It wouldn't be a small challenge, as the performance shown by the former rojiblanco in England has been more than disappointing.
