SSA issues a notice about SSDI payments to millions of American beneficiaries

If you receive SSDI and you still haven't received the July payment, the SSA explains when it will arrive

For millions of Americans, Social Security remains an essential source of income during retirement. Although many already receive it monthly, how it works can cause uncertainty. Especially when the payment schedule isn't uniform for everyone.

Each month, SSDI deposits aren't made on a single date for everyone. The Social Security Administration (SSA) organizes payments according to specific criteria. The date of birth and the moment when the benefit began are key.

How SSDI is organized and who receives it

SSDI is aimed at people who can't work due to a medical condition recognized as a disability. To be eligible, it's necessary to have previously worked and contributed taxes to Social Security, and to have accumulated enough work credits. SSDI beneficiaries can include both people who've worked for years and those who suffered an early disability.

SSA reviews each application with rigorous medical and administrative criteria, which ensures that aid goes to those who truly need it. Once approved, beneficiaries receive monthly payments that follow a specific schedule. This scheme not only organizes the system, but also helps predict precisely when the money will arrive.

Official SSDI schedule for July 2025

During this month, SSA has structured payments according to four main groups. Group 1 includes those who have received benefits since before May 1997; this group received its deposit on July 3 (7/3). Group 2 corresponds to those whose birthdays fall between the 1st and the 10th of the month; they received their payment on July 9 (7/9).

Meanwhile, those born between the 11th and the 20th are in Group 3, which was paid on the 16th. Finally, Group 4 is made up of those born between the 21st and the 31st; their payment was issued on July 23 (7/23). These timeframes allow for a staggered and more efficient payment system.

Haven't received your deposit? Check these steps

If the money still hasn't arrived, there are several actions you can take. The first is to confirm that you belong to the correct group according to your date of birth. You should also verify that your bank or card information is correct.

SSA recommends waiting at least three business days before contacting them. Sometimes, delays are due to internal bank procedures or technical problems. If after that period the payment hasn't arrived, you can report it directly on the official portal.

This type of incident isn't frequent, but it's advisable to stay informed. SSA offers ongoing guidance to ensure that each beneficiary receives what they're entitled to. Keeping up with the schedule and following the recommendations can prevent many headaches.
