U-turn in Thomas Lemar's future: Simeone's decision, confirmed

The French midfielder isn't having an easy season at Atlético de Madrid.

One of the major sagas at Atlético de Madrid for several years now is the difficult situation of Thomas Lemar, a player in a particular situation. The reality is that he has always been to Cholo's liking, getting minutes when he has been physically at his best. In fact, the Frenchman has participated in some matches this season when he has had that physical consistency in training.

Even so, it is no surprise to know that from the Metropolitano they have sought an exit for him on numerous occasions, also in this winter market. It wasn't a priority operation for the sports management, but saving all or a large part of his salary was a desire to lighten the club's wage bill. It hasn't been possible, and in fact, everything points to his situation changing radically in the coming months until the end of this season.

Thomas Lemar, a new beginning

Something that Simeone highlighted recently is that the French footballer has always had to resurface due to injuries, which have been affecting him for years. He has never been able to have true consistency on the field, missing many matches and generating criticism from fans. A year and a half ago, he suffered that serious injury at Mestalla that didn't allow him to play an official match again until last October.

He has had minutes in four matches this season, the last of them in Salzburg, having a clear chance to score. Cholo has always had praise for Thomas Lemar, as he considers him a player with a technique different from most of the squad. Therefore, it is possible that his situation could change significantly, at least, looking ahead to the coming months until the end of the current season.

Simeone has confidence

Seeing the best version of the world champion is almost impossible, as he has been struggling for a long time to find physical stability. However, he can start to be a player who enters more into the rotations, contributing on the field and allowing his teammates to be managed. In the end, he occupies a first-team spot, and it wouldn't make any sense for him not to have some prominence at Atlético de Madrid.

Whatever his future may be, it is evident that to seek an exit he will have to start growing on the field and not remain on the substitute bench. When he has been at 100%, he has always had the opportunity to step onto the field, as Simeone trusts that he can be more important. No one knows what will happen next summer market, but everything points to Thomas Lemar starting to have many opportunities to gain importance.
